This next subject is quite the multi-tasker and someone I’ve admired for a while. She’s a mum, entrepreneur, designer and more recently has started a skin and hair care line for kids. She’s understandably quite busy so we’ve done the interview through WhatsApp! Again I’ve left it largely unedited as I always like women to tell their stories in their own words.
- Introduce yourself in your own words?

- Family background
-Support System
I had a lot of support, especially from my husband who out of acceptance let me share the journey because the truth is it’s not always about you as the woman, it involves both parties and even the family at large (if shared)
-Diagnostics/ treatments -where and when. Timeline
My initial diagnosis that suggested chronic PID was when I was at 16 in St Nicholas hospital and confirmed tubal blockage was at LIMH /Reddington after we got married .
- Journey to conception ?Tell us a bit about your experience
I tried both medical , herbal and even spiritual means to get pregnant and the few means did not seem to work until Istopped trying and started believing. I was so lost in the conclusions made by the doctors that I forgot the superior healer. God.
-Your experience is life changing but how has it changed your life
It has helped me believe more and also understand that many times we crave something so bad but refuse to learn through the process. It also helped me connect with many people andmake new friends.
-What do you do now and what inspired you to start Faithmovedfollicles ?
Fmf was born out of the need to share my “trying to conceive-experiences” without having to hide my identity. It is aimed at helping both single and married women to be more aware of their body and its capabilities. The good , the bad, the possibles.
-What does the future hold you you ?
I’m hopeful, hopeful and faithful
- Final words to women out there especially women going through infertility/subfertility
I am hopeful, and keeping the faith to one day own physical hubs where women, single or not can connect on different levels, with proffessionals on ground to help with counselling etc.
Women, men whatever your heart desires, go for it. It is never too soon or too late. You are not alone.
M’ade creations and designs
I’m gracefully married with 2 kids, coincedentally my marriage clocked 4yrs just few days ago. Both myself and husband are the first of both families so lies on us many responsibilities.
-Situation surrounding your diagnosis?
I have been diagnosed with possible endometriosis in the early years and chronic PID which in turn led to tubal blockage. It was thought provoking to decide whether to share my diagnosis with my fiance at the time or just go into the marriage blindly. I mean he is from a core yoruba-African family with just one sibling it is expected that they will all be expecting and keen about early conception. I talked to my mom about it who advised I let my husband to be know since my diagnosis wasn’t missed or my fault. We had a long talk and we both agreed to get married and started trying to conceive almost imediately after.

-Your initial feelings and thoughts
At the time, it wasn’t so much of a shocker because I truly didn't understand it. I just thought it was a ‘mere’ issue. Until we had a test one month after our wedding and It had gone from partial to complete tubal blockage. I mean 3 HSGs(hysterosalpingograms) confirmed this.

Maryam’s interview was a short one due to time constraint but she has gone on to have 2 gorgeous children despite her diagnosis. I chose to share her story to spread hope and inspire readers who are trying to conceive or have been diagnosed with PCOS or Endometriosis.
There is hope, Maryam went on to conceive without treatment or assisted reproduction but this is not the case for many women out there.
If you are going through this, there are possible treatment options out there and seeking help does not make you less of a woman!
Maryam runs two businesses M’ADE and Mo baby skin care line so please follow her on Instagram. She also runs a women support page on Instagram called Faith moved follicles. You can connect with her via the links below!
